The College of Nursing (CoN) at HITS is recognized by The Health and Family Welfare Department (TNH&W), Govt. of Tamil Nadu; The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Chennai; The Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council* and Indian Nursing Council*, New Delhi.

The nursing college at HITS aims to create positive and successful outcomes for the learners. The unique features of the school include:

• Hybrid learning pathways with a blend of theoretical, clinical and experiential learning.
• A comprehensive curriculum that spans integrated healthcare services (protective, preventative, curative, promotive, rehabilitative and palliative).
• Dedicated and experienced faculty members to mentor learners in different nursing specialties.
• Value-added specializations and elective courses are offered to students in line with their interests and market demand.
• The Office of International Affairs also encourages students to apply for semester exchange programmes with MoU partner universities to broaden global exposure.
• Training in an international language (Mandarin/Spanish/German etc.) as well as training for OET/IELTS exams in third semester to improve global placements.
• MoUs with educational/research institutions, Gleneagles Global Health City, Government Hospitals and Urban/Rural Health Centres.
• Work alongside experienced professionals in real-world healthcare settings to gain experience caring for patients in clinical and community healthcare settings.
• Developing necessary skills and competencies in nursing as envisaged in the National Health Policy of 2002.
• Interdepartmental collaborations (ECE/AI) to discern emerging developments in AI embedded technologies and laboratories.
• Knowledge of ethical code of conduct and professional standards required for a healthcare provider.
• A well-stocked library with books, magazines, e-resources, databases and more.
• Focused research centres and well-equipped laboratories to groom need-based research in multiple disciplines.
• Semester-based super specialty clinical training, project work and internships at busy hospitals and healthcare centres.
• Field visits to healthcare centres, hospitals and industries (to understand occupational health hazards).
• Holistic development of students with 15 acre playground, student societies and events.

HITS has signed over 150+ MoUs across 42 countries to improve industry/institution-academia collaborations. Students from different disciplines including the College of Nursing get an opportunity to broaden their horizons and gain exposure globally via specialized study abroad, summer, research, study-tour and semester exchange programmes.

HITS has collaborated with Gleneagles Global Health City, Billroth Hospitals, Smart Vision and Sankara Nethralaya to open up new avenues of knowledge for students. The students also get a chance to complete their clinical training in maternal/child health, oncology, mental health and more at top hospitals and rural & urban primary health centres. Educational visits to reputed Government Institutions, medical colleges, rehabilitation & mental health centres, geriatric, hospitals, research centres and companies are also a prominent feature of the programme to improve students’ knowledge and competencies.
